As discussed in subcategory RC.IP-3, here the order of restoration and recovery is extremely important. This is for many reasons, e.g. if sequence of restoration and recovery is not adhered, then there’s a potential that data may be corrupted, management access may be lost, and remote and authentication mechanisms may be disabled leading to delays in recovery, and in a worst case scenario may invalidate recovery at all. For example, if the backup disc is destroyed or the data is corrupt in the process then any efforts in regaining or restoring service may be unsuccessful.
